Five defenders. One gate. Ten waves that do not care how you feel about it.

About the game
Ashen Gate is a siege game without a build phase. Your defenders attack automatically; what you control is where they stand, what they carry, and when you spend the skills that break a wave open. Click an enemy to focus fire, press 1–5 for the defender skills, Q and E for Wither and the gate ward.
The armory is the real system. Five slots per defender — weapon, helmet, armor, ring and relic — drawn from twenty-five bases, thirty affixes and five legendary powers. Equipment has five reinforcement levels, boss seals can forge a targeted piece, and triggered damage is deliberately unable to set off further procs, so a build can be strong without becoming a chain reaction.
Ten ten-wave sieges, two bosses, six defenders and twelve enemy types. Support effects reward adjacency, so the formation arrows matter as much as the loot. Gold repairs the gate between waves; salvage becomes iron for reinforcement and rerolls. Standard and Relentless change the pressure, and growth is capped on purpose. Restarting keeps everything you earned.
Everything runs locally. No account, no backend, no audio. Progress saves to the browser after actions and during battle, hidden tabs pause, restored battles begin paused, and opening a second copy transfers save ownership to it rather than letting an idle tab overwrite your run. A service worker caches the game after the first load so it reopens offline.
What you actually do
- 01
Five slots, every one a decision
Weapon, helmet, armor, ring and relic across twenty-five bases, thirty affixes and five legendary powers.
- 02
Formation is a system
Support effects reward adjacency, so moving a defender between stations changes what the whole line does.
- 03
Automatic attacks, manual timing
Defenders fight on their own. You pick the focus target and spend five skills plus Wither and the gate ward.
- 04
Ten sieges, two bosses
A hundred waves, twelve enemy types, and boss seals that forge a targeted piece of equipment.
- 05
No proc chains
Triggered damage cannot trigger further procs — builds stay strong without spiralling out of the designer's hands.
- 06
Local and offline
No account or backend, saves in your browser, hidden tabs pause, and a second copy takes ownership instead of clobbering the run.
